Through academics, behavior, extra-curricular activities and parental involement, many students at Hope Academy will earn their way to a trip at the end of the school year. Hope Academy’s Eagles, our premier basketball team, are searching for sponsors to help purchase basketball jerseys. If you are able, please use the website to donate $25 or more to purchase jerseys. The boys have already hosted a successful carwash and are planning more upcoming fundraisers. Please support your Eagles!

Hope Academy will be offering TAKS tutorials in math and science on Saturdays, which can be used to appeal course credit due to poor attendance. Tutorials will be held from 9am-12pm on the following dates:

Hope Academy opened on August 24th. In just one week, we have seen tremendous growth in our enrollment. We also are offering evening classes to anyone in grades 9 to 12 and those individuals interested in GED preparation coursework.

Students who would like to recover course credits or earn additional credits may participate in Hope Academy’s evening credit recovery program. This program is offered to any student attending Hope Academy, all Houston ISD high schools, or any surrounding high schools in other districts. Interested students must have their counselor’s approval.
Courses offered include:
- All levels of English
- Government
- US History
- World History
- Geography
- Economics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- IPC
- Health
- Algebra I and II
- Geometry
- Business/Consumer Math
- Precalculus
- Spanish I
- Other courses to be added in the future
Participation in the credit recovery program requires 1 hour of attendance for each course Monday through Friday, between the hours of 5pm-9pm for up to 9 weeks. Students may work at their own pace, but are expected to finish within the 9 week period. Students may take up to 4 courses with approval from their high school counselor.
For non-Hope Academy students, the cost per course is $150.00. Hope Academy students, please see your counselor for discounted pricing.

Dr. D.Z. Cofield and the Board of Directors introduced Hope Academy 9th through 12th Grade Charter School. Dr. Cofield presented the school’s vision and mission to the community at a breakfast meeting on June 17, 2009. The event was held at The Vue on the Bayou. The school’s administrators: Dr. D.Z Cofield – Superintendent, Raymond Whitley – Director, and Amber Wilson – Principal.
